In a couple of other posts I’ve written about the ship canal bridge and seeing some amazing light this time of year. (See Fall Colors and Finding the Right Light) It’s not ideal, but I have photographed this scene numerous times by taking photos through the front windshield of the car, while at a red light. I rarely do “drive by shots”, but sometimes, if the camera is already open and ready, I will snap a couple, knowing it’s a real crap shoot what I’ll get. This piece was made by combining two “at a stop light” shots of the bridge in DPX, with the “difference” setting, then filtering the result with the app Pixlromatic. I don’t use that app very often, because there aren’t many controls, just filters or effects you choose on or off (no sliders or fine control). However, that being said, I LOVE the metallic results I get when I use Hipstamatic John S/Float then filter it in Pixlromatic (usually Hagrid, but depends on the image).
