“There’s a starman waiting in the sky He’d like to come and meet us But he thinks he’ll blow our minds” -Lyrics by David Bowie
I’ve been quite busy with the business side of my photography these past couple of months: not only setting up my website, but also establishing my etsy shop, hanging two shows in two months and legally starting my business. While I’m not complaining, because these are all very exciting steps to be taking and giving me lots to do, I also feel like the organizational skills needed to do that are distracting and exhausting my creative mind. I haven’t had the “freedom” to just create with the same intensity I did this summer.
With that realization in mind, I’m planning to set aside blocks of time this month of November for just that…I need to step away from the desk and get out with the camera. The beauty of the iPhone is the tools are with me all the time; my “pocket studio” travels light! This piece was created with photos I took months ago, and while there are advantages to having the “supplies” saved in albums on my iPhone, there’s an unbeatable excitement of a just taken photo.
It’s time to invite that Starman down to meet me!
